Another week, another Doctor Who episode. I was surprised to find that I liked this one more than I should have. I'm not exactly sure why.

Let's delve, shall we? )

EEEP!
Shiri is coming to visit me...she reminded-called me now.
She is coming this coming, or next weekend, I can't remember which
(my calendar is at work)

She hosted me, AMAZINGLY, in the middle east, and said
her parents would be more than happy to have me when I get there
(since this summer is expected to be CRAZY, with all the tourists)

we are heading to Montreal for half of her visit...
because a) it's so much nicer
b) I'm in the process of moving, so it's kinda crazy around here
c) because Toronto smells like poo.

THEN we are coming back, and I am giving her a super tour of Toronto,
probably the Art Gallery of Ontario, Royal Ontario Museum, CN Tower,
(she said NO to Eaton Center, AND WONDERLAND, haha)....take a ferry down to the Islands...
maybe Medieval times (CAUSE I'M A NERD-o-TRON)...China town/Little Italy/Jewish Highway/Slavic/Spanish area, Bloor St. West & Yorkville and maybe Pioneer Village (ghey)...
ummm...tour of the university of Toronto/Ryerson polytechnic and parliament building...
and lakeshore/harbourfrotn area...

AM I MISSING ANYTHING close by/downtown???

I dunno.
I JUST REALIZED I SUCK AT BEING A TOUR GUIDE...don't tell nobody, haha....jk.

two cities....four days....she's as nuts as me.
SOUNDS GOOD

I have the weirdest taste. [May. 12th, 2008|09:28 pm]

[mood | okay]

I have the weirdest taste in men, I swear. I've been watching edited versions of The Sopranos on A&E and I totally have the hots for this guy. Why, oh why. I can't explain myself.

I hope you all hugged your moms yesterday. We got a nice kick in the proverbial balls at Club on Saturday night. A girl came in with her friends, proclaiming it her birthday and her time to get good and sloshed. We all laughed while she downed shot after shot and wished her a happy birthday. Later on when I was spinning Tony told me that he was going to be a little late taking over cause the drunk girl was face planted in the ladies bathroom. Oh, and he revealed that he just found out she was four months pregnant. I guess she figured it was her birthday and the next day was Mother's Day, it was her godgiven right to get loaded. The only word I have to describe that is "sick". And not the good kind of sick. I don't fault any of the staff; she didn't look pregnant, and I'm sure if they knew, they wouldn't have served her.

I got my mother two solar lights for the new patio my parents are building (the patio will also feature a permanant gasline grill, a gas-fed fire pit, a sail mounted to three posts to block the sun, and a place for a fountain). We took her to Madison to shop the gigantic Capitol farmer's market (I got a fresh papaya boba smoothie...I'm not one for copious amounts of fresh vegetables, and fruit is not in season yet), and I think she had a good time.

My appetite came back with force today. I was hungry by 3 PM after a normal lunch (store bought yogurt smoothie, low fat chips and low fat cookies), and I'm so afraid if I eat I'll gain all my weight back. I ate a normal dinner (maybe a little more than usual), and made some smoothies for lunches for the next couple days. I'm going to start working out again in the next couples, since I had stopped when my lung capacity was cut dramatically when I was sick. I am determined to lose more weight, and not gain any weight back.

A thought as I wandered through Ashenvale last night.... [May. 12th, 2008|07:21 pm]

[rufushonkeriv]
I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We're an old city, and a hilly city, which doesn't mix well. Most of the roads within thirty miles of the Downtown area were put in before heavy earthmoving equipment, so they are completely at the mercy of the hills. The possible shortcut you zip down in hopes to quickly get to that spot on the other side of the hill will only lead you to a half-hour detour dumping you back at the same spot you pulled off in the first place.... if you're lucky, that is. (I grew up in Toledo, Ohio where everything is a big grid and even after 22 years as a Pittsburgher and possessing an excellent sense of direction I'm still finding myself getting used to the map around here)

Ashenvale, I noticed last night, is just like that. There are very few shortcuts that I can find, and each time I've tried to cut across land to save some time, I often find myself looking up at an insurmountable cliff and having to backtrack.  Offroad, the place is like a big maze. Ashenvale has never been one of my favorite zones (if I wanted to get hopelessly lost I can just leave the house), but I must give Blizz a thumbs up for design there.  It feels twice as big as it really is, and that's saying something.

Raiding Mage [May. 12th, 2008|06:22 pm]

worldofwarcraft

[dr3m4n]
[mood | curious]

Hey everyone. I joined the community a few days ago and have found it to be very, very helpful.

I am facing a dilemma. I currently have a 65 frost mage. This is my first toon to be lvled past 60 so I'm new to the high-end/end-game things. I hope to get into raiding upon reaching 70.

So, I am currently deep frost and I love it to pieces. I can't imagine not having my frost shield and elemental to call upon. My understanding, however, is that arcane/fire are the specs that do the raiding. I am aware that frost is geared more for pvp, but is it also viable for raiding? I'd like to determine which way I should head so that I have a few lvls to get used to a new spec (should I have to change) and so that I can decide whether to specialize in Spellfire or Shadoweave tailoring.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated and any suggested specs would be great!

shadow priest spell rotation/keymapping/screen setup [May. 12th, 2008|02:41 pm]

worldofwarcraft

[karlajean]
Since I know there are at least a few raiding shadow priests on here, I'm hoping to find some help/advice.

Last week, I joined a real raiding guild. Now that I've been in with them for a week or so, I'm realizing what a joke the last one I was in was (not Daughters of the Horde, they're awesome but not a raiding guild, but the one on my old server).

Anyhow, because I just joined, I am of course on a probationary status. The guild is firmly into T5 content - they got their guild first kill of Kael'thas in TK on Friday night, and are starting SSC tonight (will be doing a 1x TK, 2x SSC/week schedule now). I wasn't there on Friday (for SSC anyways, I came in afterwards to help on Mag & Gruuls), as I don't have any experience with KT yet. I will be going to SSC tonight, where we're going to be starting with Hydross and possibly trying Lurker as well. I know those 2 fights already, as my old guild had done them while I was still there. Some of my guildies have done SSC before as they had left another bigger raiding guild on the server to reform a smaller, more tight-knit one with a different perspective.

Anyways, I was talking to one of the officers on the weekend about raiding and my gear & DPS etc. I fit in really really well with the guild personality wise, that's already very obvious. I've done a bunch of instances and quests with them over the past week... in addition to the two raiding nights, we did a 2 1/4 hour Kara clear on Thursday, took down the first 2 bosses of ZA on Saturday and then did the first 3 bosses in Kara on alts after ZA on Saturday, plus a bunch of 5 mans etc. I've never been more happy about my decision to transfer my toons from Nathrezim to Bronzebeard.

But I need to get my DPS up a bit more. Depending on the fight, of course, since shadow priest damage is heavily dependent on whether it's a short fight or a sustained one, I seem to come out at about 700DPS. On the Al'ar fight, where my DPS was pretty continuous, it was at 749. Our other shadow priest (#1SP) was at 816. Our gear is pretty comparable, I think he's got maybe 20 +shadow damage more than me (and I'm at 1220). On VR, I came out at 693, #1SP came out at 747, we both spent the fight running around a lot though. For comparison, on the Kael'thas kill, #1SP was at 880DPS, and on Rage Winterchill, he was at 657.

Apparently I'm going to need to get up to about 1000DPS for when we get into Hyjal full time, but I'm not likely to see a whole lot of gear upgrades between now and then, simply because there isn't much out there for me, not necessarily because of DKP or anything. Now, my guild *is* willing to help with this, they're all very awesome about this, but I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions for me as well.

I know part of my problem is that I'm a clicker *gasp* yes... I know, I know, I'm trying to break myself of the habit, but having a hard time.

Anyways, any help you can give me would be great. I'd love to see screenshots of your UI, hear how you've set up your keybindings, or anything else you think might help me. I'm going to try binding some of my Gkeys (I have an old-style G15 keyboard) for the raid tonight, as well as shutting off some of my addons during the raid to help with lag, for tonight. And I'm going to respec so my spec is identical to #1SP.

My armory is here: Inaara of Bronzebeard

Animated TV series update [May. 12th, 2008|04:48 pm]

sonjaaa
Metalocalypse was hilarious and had a cool aesthetic parodying Nordic death metal.

Freakazoid and Venture Bros. were interesting and had cool ideas, but were ultimately not original enough for me to continue watching. Courage the Cowardly Dog was kind of dumb.

I accidentally watched episode 101 (instead of 001) of Bleach*, and it had really awesome character concepts, outfits and creatures, but it did seem to follow the formula that [info]czarrie described.

*Maybe it is best after all to watch random anime episodes in the middle of a series instead of the first two episodes to see what it's really about!
